TIP OF THE DAY: USING FRESH OR DRIED HERBS
Herbs. Herbs? So many to choose from, so many flavors but with my Tip of Day: Using Fresh or Dried herbs- you should be in tip top shape next time you are cooking.
Whether you are using dried or fresh herbs, you must keep in mind that dried herbs will be much more powerful than fresh herbs since they are more concentrated.
I love to use fresh herbs, but they are not always on hand, so it is very important to keep good selection of dried herbs in my pantry at all times. Herbs play a VERY important role in quick cooking by adding punches of flavor in every dish.
How do I substitute dry for fresh in a recipe?
When you are cooking and need to substitute dry for fresh, typically use three times the amount of fresh herbs as dry. For example, if a recipe calls for 1 tablespoon of fresh oregano, you will only need 1 teaspoon of dried ( 3 t. equals 1 T.)
Happy cooking 🙂
