TIP OF THE DAY: BAKED VS STEAMED POTATOES
Do you like your baked potato crispy on the outside or pillowy soft and fluffy? See how my Tip of the Day: Baked vs Steamed Potatoes can help you achieve whatever your potato desire is.
Well there are 2 kinds of baked potatoes: steamed and baked? Technically they are both “baked” in an oven, but both done differently.
A baked potato is one that is NOT wrapped in foil. I typically will rub potato with oil, maybe coat in some kosher salt, poke holes in potato with a fork, and bake at 350 degrees for about an hour or until done. End result is more of a crunchier outside.
A steamed potato is one that IS wrapped in foil. Wrapping the potato in foil more or less keeps all the moisture inside and steams the potato so to speak. Leaving it the potato moist and tender on the outside and pillowy soft and fluffy in the inside.
Either way is amazing and its nice to mix it up once in awhile.
