Looking for something different to cook for your family? Well, you found it. The first time I made this I thought the addition of the beans seemed weird, but it happens to be one of my favorite additions to this dish. This dish also freezes well too, so I always say, make one for dinner, one for the freezer, and if you are extra ambitious, 1 for a friend 🙂
This recipe calls for crescent roll dough but you could also mix things up, and substitute pie crust, pizza crust, or french bread. I like to simmer the meat-tomato mixture until it gets really thick!

- 8 oz. tomato sauce
- 1 can green beans, drained
- ¼-1/2 t. garlic salt
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 3-4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 T. sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Brown beef and onion.
- Stir in tomato sauce and seasonings and simmer until thick
- Meanwhile, prepare the crust.
- Add in the beans to the meat mixture.
- Press together the crescent roll dough over the bottom and up the sides.
- Combine egg and 1 cup cheese.
- Spread the egg-cheese mixture over the bottom of the crust.
- Spoon the hot meat mixture over the crust and cheese mixture.
- Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Note:
- Want to freeze the pie, cover well and place in freezer. When ready to cook place in the oven frozen and bake at 350 for 30 minutes and then another 45 minutes to 1 hour at 375?
