Whether you roll it in a can with the kids, or in a pre frozen ice cream base, or an old school ice cream maker with ice and rock salt, this recipe is fabulous.
Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream is perfect for a special treat on a weeknight or for a Christmas party with family. Be sure when the ice cream is done you top it with a garnish of crushed candy canes.
This is the type of Ice Cream Maker I use but any one will work. You can also be creative and use any kind of candy to mix in if you do not like peppermint or just keep it plain.
Serve with with Lava Cake or the best Apple Crisp.
Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 2 1/2 c sugar
- 6 c milk
- 4 c heavy cream
- 2 T vanilla
- 1/2 t salt
- crushed candy cane or peppermints optional
Instructions
- Whisk all ingredients together in bowl
- pour into favorite ice cream maker and freeze according to directions on your maker.
