Do you sometimes think you over complicate dinner? Do you sometimes think you need to take the time to search for new recipes to try? Well I am here today to remind you of the simple classics.
Sometimes we are so busy searching for a “dinner” recipe we forget that we can mix and match meals such as breakfast for dinner or lunch for dinner.
These simple wiener winks, which I would typically put in the “lunch” category literally take less than 30 minutes to throw together from start to finish.
If I am in a big hurry, I will set my oven timer so it is preheated by the time I arrive home from work! Depending on the night we sometimes only have about 30 minutes to arrive home, change, eat dinner, and head back out the door.
You can also get creative with these too! You can mix up the cheese, mix up the bread you use, and even the meat.
Sometimes I like to cut my hot dogs in half or use 2 biscuits per hot dog to completely enclose the dog in the bread. You could also use yeast rolls, such as Rhodes, to wrap the dogs in and place back in the freezer. Then when you need a quick meal to arrive home too you can place these dogs in the oven to rise for the day while at work, and bake when you arrive home.
With this reminder to think outside the box, what are you adding to your meal plan this week to mix things up a bit?
- Hot Dogs ( we like all beef)
- Refrigerated Biscuits
- American Cheese
- Preheat oven to biscuit directions
- Flatten each biscuit
- Then place a piece of cheese on biscuit
- Wrap around a hot dog. If you like I sometimes cut hot dogs in half and enclose the whole hot dog in the dough. Just personal preference.
- Bake until golden brown.
