It’s that time of year where everywhere you turn is pumpkins and apples. These Slab Apple Pie bars are great because they are a mix between a pie and a bar.
We all know pies are delicious but take time, so this take on an apple pie is brilliant and delicious, especially if you already have pre-made crusts on hand in your freezer or fridge. I love keeping these on hand at all times to be able to throw together a fabulous dessert in literally minutes. I also resort to my mom’s homemade canned apple pie filling she does up in the fall. But you could use storebought canned or just make the filling fresh too!
A nice heavy drizzle of caramel and maybe a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on these bad boys would also be a nice decadent touch.
And of course, another perk about these bars is they freeze well so why not make 2 at one time. Once bars are prepared wrap really good in foil and place in freezer. Once ready to cook, loosely leave foil over top and place the frozen pie into a 424-degree oven for about 15-20 min and then reduce the heat to 375, remove foil, and cook for another 45 min to 1 hour.
