Do you love the sweet taste of pop tarts but not the “healthy” part of them? Is it all your kids want in the morning, but you really don’t love them living off them. Well if you answered honestly to either of them and your answer was yes, then you will probably be interested to know that you CAN make your own Easy Homemade Poptarts with just a few ingredients and in less time than you can whip up and cook a batch of pancakes!
So the inspiration behind this one was having leftover blueberry pie filling per my son’s request of blueberry sauce on corn pancakes. And, if you know me I don’t like waste so my mind instantly went into “inventory” mode. If you don’t know what I mean by “inventory” mode, you can find out more about that here.
While in “inventory” mode I ran across some pre-made refrigerated pie crust I also needed to use up. So born are these amazingly sweet Easy Homemade Poptarts. I actually made them originally to be mini pies for a picnic we were going on, but they turned into breakfast, snack, lunch, and dinner too!
Cut them into any shape you like, add in any flavor you like, maybe add in a little cream cheese for a creamier texture, or even make a chocolate pudding to stuff inside if that’s how you roll! Do it your way, be creative, they can be made soooooo many different ways guys.
Another note from me is eating these rather quickly if you have texture issues because storing these in an airtight container is going to make them a little softer and not quite as crispy if that makes sense. As with most things, they are obviously best fresh!
