This recipe is from my Great Grandma. I have grown up with this recipe my whole life and every time this dough recipe is brought to a party everyone rants and raves. They are the perfect amount of sweetness.
This dough recipe is very versatile and we also use it to make caramel rolls, cinnamon rolls, and the most amazing dinner rolls you will ever taste! They are moist super moist with a touch of sweetness. To. Die. For.

Best Dough Recipe Ever
Approximately yields 5 dozen
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ c. mashed potatoes
- 4 c. potato water
- 6 T. instant yeast
- 2 T. salt
- 1 ½ c. oil
- 2 ½ c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- Approximately 5 lbs. Flour
Instructions:
- boil potatoes, reserving water. Then mash potatoes with a fork.
- Stir yeast into the warm water and let dissolve
- Add in the salt and sugar, potatoes, eggs, and oil.
- After all blended together, start adding in flour and kneading until smooth and all combined. Do not over mix your dough or it will be tough.
- Cover with a loose towel and place in a warm place for dough to rise until double in size.
- Punch down, cover and let rise again.
- Now form into dinner rolls, cinnamon twists, or cinnamon rolls.
- Let rise one more time in baking dishes before baking
- Bake at 400 until browned.
Best Dough Recipe Ever
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup mashed potatoes
- 4 cup potato water
- 6 T instant yeast
- 2 T salt
- 1 1/2 cup oil vegetable or canola
- 2 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 5 lbs flour white
Instructions
- boil potatoes in water until fork tender
- reserve potato water and mash potatoes with fork
- stir yeast into warm water according to yeast direction temperature and let dissolve
- add in the salt, sugar, potatoes, eggs, and oil
- after all bended together, start adding in flour slowly and kneading until smooth and all combined. leave dough a tad sticky
- cover with loose towel and place in warm place for dough to rise until double in size.
- punch down once doubled. and let rest until doubled again.
- punch down for the 2nd time and now you can make into your roll of choice.
- let rise once more in baking dish of your choice.
- bake 400 until browned. Enjoy
