It’s that time of year where we dust off our overly large pot (or in this case our crock-pot) that got shoved to the back of our cupboard during summer and shine it back up for a good ole pot of 5 Ingredient Crock-Pot Chili!
There are a million-and-one ways to make chili- and let me tell you- I have tried quite a few.
I have found tho-simple is better! I have done white chili, chicken chili, green chili, chili with chocolate, chili with baked beans, and chili with coffee…….Phew! That’s a lot of chili!
But, (there’s always a but isn’t there) after working in the food industry I realized keeping your chili simple= versatility= chili cheese fries, chili dog, chili burger, chili stuffed potato boats, chili totchos (tots covered in chili and cheese), goulash, and chili mac.
On busy days I use the crock-pot and pre-browned meat and sausage from the freezer (click here to see my freezer post).
As far as toppings go- the list could go on and on. My house typically goes for a little brown sugar, shredded cheese, oyster crackers, saltine crackers, or sour cream. My father-in-law, however, serves his chili over a nice bowl of steamed white rice. This is equally as delicious!
