If you have been following me for awhile then you know I sound like broken record sometimes. For some reason I am sensing an eye roll from you. Well, a lot of times I just say things here and there, whether you saw me say it on Snapchat (tandyg), Instagram, or an FB Live, but if you are not following me on those platforms then maybe you will find yourself dumbfounded about my #1 tip and actually learn something! Of course, that is my hope for you 🙂
My #1 Tip to arriving home to dinner ready is to……………………………………
Set and use your oven timer! Yes, that means you may have to drag back out the manual to see the steps it takes for your oven. It is probably called the delay timer in your manual. Many days I put a frozen casserole into my oven before I leave for work and delay the timer so it turns out in the afternoon so I can arrive home to a fresh baked Lasagna. It is the best feeling EVER! You will know exactly what I mean once you try it. It is also great for breakfast items too. Place your cinnamon rolls in the oven to rise overnight, set the delay timer and boom you wake to an amazing smell of sweetness the next morning!
Let me share a fun little story from one of my devoted followers first so you know exactly what NOT to do if you are trying this for the first time:
“I just wanted to let you know that I thought to put dinner in the oven and setting the timer was genius!!! So, I had a chicken roast ready to go and set the timer for a couple hours before I got home from work. Jamie came home and said that it never turned on. Turns out Jamie’s teenage son thought we left the oven on and turned it off before he went to school! Just thought I would share!!! I literally bragged to everyone how I had supper ready to go after youth group!! Who knew teenagers were so responsible, next time I am leaving a note on the oven!”
So leave a note or let your family know that the oven is not on and that you just set your timer. I seriously laughed out loud when I hear this! I had a similar thing happen to me at Christmas with my mother in law. I knew we would be downstairs opening gifts and I didn’t want to forget to warm the rolls so I set the delay timer real quick. She thought the oven was on an turned it off as she didn’t think we were ready for them yet lol.
Well if you are as excited to try this new tip out if you aren’t doing it already, be sure to drop me a line below and let me know what you think once you try it, or, a funny story that has happened while attempting to try the delay timer.
Happy “Delaying”
